Silence enveloping words
With hope in our eyes
Hell does not last forever
Tattooed numbers

The crate

Fear greater than hunger
Breathing air filled with fire and smoke
With hope in our eyes
Hell does not last forever
The pipel boy
Soup tasting of corpses
Long nights of tourching work
Watching young children with lives ahead of them
Perish
Does Hell last forever

    Great work Dana on your found poem! This poem is very powerful, how it is saying that hell does not last forever, and then at the end, saying that hell does last forever. The last three lines where it says, " Watching young children with lives ahead of them, Perish, Does hell last forever." These last three lines are the most powerful in the poem, as you talk about how the children would be killed, then asked if hell does last forever. Overall, brilliant job!

    Dana,
    I would suggest you add stanzas, ending everytime you say, "hell does not last forever."
    Outside of that I would also suggest putting similar or related together and/or putting events in chronological order
    Otherwise your poem is very powerful and while pointing out the Terrible events of the Holocaust still outlined the hope that the Jews needed to keep alive to survive.

The way Wiesel writes his memoir is almost like it’s written in prose, he is extremely descriptive with his writing, and his sentences flow, but he keeps the plot fast-paced and moving like the greatest poems are. Blog Post #5 - Ever

Learning about the Holocaust has had a great impact on me. Previously I had little knowledge of its existence, now I know of its horrific impact on our past and present. It's difficult to comprehend the suffering these people went through. Even though it's devastating to process we have to understand so that we don't make the same mistakes. Nadia Murad’s article filled me with empathy as well as anger. Our world is still infected with thriving hatred, people are truly suffering. As citizens of a free country, we must take action, support survivors and give them justice. We need to stop squabbling over the small things and fight for human rights.

The about the Holocaust has made me more aware of how easy it is for us to turn to evil and believe it’s right. When I was first learning about the Holocaust, the word fear seemed to stand out the most to me. The Germans blamed all of their problems on the Jews because of fear, they put the Jews in ghettos because of fear, or they tried to annihilate all the Jews because of fear. I think it is really important to pay attention to people’s feelings especially feelings like fear and desperation. I feel like we, the world let this happen. We allowed this to happen because of our arrogance. We expected that just because we gave Germany a whole bunch of rules to follow and took some of their land, they would immediately become subordinate to us.
